AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas swingman Kevin Durant intends to declare himself eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft and will begin the process of hiring an agent, he announced today.
"I enjoyed my year here at Texas," Durant said. "All the fans and everyone here at Texas made me feel right at home, considering I was so far away from home. I will always be a Longhorn and never forget what the people at Texas have done for me."
The first freshman in NCAA history to earn consensus National Player of the Year honors, Durant led the Big 12...

Kevin Durant has all the major college hoops awards, now the only question is whether he'll enter the NBA Draft.
According to the Dallas Morning News the answer is yes.
The DMN, citing unnamed sources with the team, says the 19-year-old Durant has made up his mind and could make it official as soon as today.
It's thought Durant would go either first or second in the draft and could command a tens of millions in endorsements right off the bat.
Durant averaged 25.8 points and 11.1 rebounds in his only season at Texas, ranking fourth...

DALLAS (AP) - Prop up your feet, Dirk Nowitzki and Jerry Stackhouse. The Dallas Mavericks have clinched the NBA's best record with five games to go.
Nowitzki and Stackhouse were Dallas' leading scorers in a 96-86 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night that sealed the top seed this postseason, then coach Avery Johnson announced right away that they wouldn't be joining the club on a road trip to Minnesota.
"I told them if I see them on the plane, I'll fine them," Johnson said.
It makes sense. With home-court guaranteed in...

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU center Glen "Big Baby" Davis is leaning toward turning pro and likely will announce his decision by next Wednesday.
Coach John Brady said Davis has been meeting with agents and plans to meet with him next Tuesday to discuss entering the NBA Draft.
"He's investigating it, and if it doesn't turn out like he thinks, then he'll come back," Brady said. "Every young player wants to go to the NBA, that's just the way it is, but the reality has got to meet what he wants. And we're going to take the next week to figure...

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - If the San Antonio Spurs were the forgotten team in the Western Conference race earlier this season, there is no overlooking them now.
The Spurs won their 13th straight Tuesday night, beating the Los Angeles Clippers 93-84. They haven't lost since Feb. 11.
"Thirteen games ago, we didn't say we needed to win 13 in a row to get back into this thing," said Tim Duncan. "We're just trying to get better as a basketball team, so when the playoffs start, we feel we can win games night in and night out."
With the Dallas...

CLEVELAND (AP) - Apparently fear is what makes the Cleveland Cavaliers play so well without LeBron James.
Sasha Pavlovic scored a career-high 25 points and Larry Hughes added 25 to lead Cleveland to a season-high sixth straight victory, 124-100 over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
James was a late scratch from the lineup because of back spasms. The Cavaliers are 3-0 this season without their superstar and 9-2 without him since he joined the team in 2003-04.
"We always get scared a little bit when he's out, so we try to step up...

MILWAUKEE (AP) - The way this season had gone for the Milwaukee Bucks, Michael Redd figures they were just about due for a lucky break.
Andrew Bogut scored 22 points en route to a 110-90 win over the shorthanded Lakers. Hear from Bogut after sweeping the season series with Los Angeles.
The Bucks caught the undermanned Los Angeles Lakers at just the right time, taking advantage of Kobe Bryant's suspension and the absence of two other starters for a 110-90 victory on Wednesday night.
For a team that has had its own share of adversity...

A few sports-reporting sharpies have suggested that at the crusty age of 22, LeBron James could be considered an on-court disappointment.
Oh, it gets worse. We also are to consider the possibility that King James is tanking the season as a means to have Mike Brown — and his grind-it-out philosophy — removed as coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Another fling against the wall would have us believe LeBron is not among the league's top 15 players.
Well, the evidence is in: The sharpies aren't very sharp.
Instead of stabbing my eyes...
